A WEEKEND GETAWAY AT HUNTER’S RIDGE CABINS
Here’s a sample schedule of a weekend well spent in the great outdoors at our spacious Frio River cabins for rent. This may give you some ideas on how, when, and why to book your trip today!
Friday, 4 PM – ARRIVE, UNPACK, SETTLE IN
Show up with a cooler full of food and drinks on a Friday afternoon and get ready for an equally exciting and relaxing weekend. Fill up your fridge, put your things away, and get that grill going.
Friday, 7 PM – GRILL AND CHILL
Light up some charcoal on the grill right outside your cabin and sear some steaks, burgers, or another favorite treat for a meal in the middle of nature. Save some coals or light up a campfire for some sweet after-dinner s’mores.
Friday, 10 PM – LAY DOWN AND REST UP
After a gaze at the unlimited stars in the clear sky, cozy up in your bed (cabins sleep up to six) and get some rest for an action-packed weekend.
Saturday, 7 AM – RISE AND SHINE!
Wake up to sunshine and chirping birds and start packing up your gear for a day of exploration. Get some much-needed energy from the coffee maker and cook yourselves a hearty breakfast in our fully-equipped kitchen. Throw the plates in your handy dishwasher and head out!
Saturday, 10 AM – GET LOST IN NATURE
Well, not literally, but enjoy all that the Frio River area has to offer—from floating the Frio to hiking alongside it. Take the family for a horseback ride, out fishing, or for a hike on the trails around Texas’ Hill Country. On a hot summer day, check out the local beloved Concan Swimming Hole. There are a ton of options to keep you busy from sunup to sundown.
Saturday, 1 PM – LUNCH IN TOWN
For a tasty meal, head to Neal’s Dining Room or Hippie Chic’s River Shack. These local favorites have healthy (and delicious) options for all ages. Still need a little something? Head to The Frio Float for a sweet after-meal treat.
Saturday, 3 PM – UNWIND AT THE CABIN
Enjoy a lazy afternoon and take a stroll, a nap, have a snack, or play some cards on the picnic table outside your cabin. Or, bring a hammock to put up on nearby trees to swing in solitude. Rest up for a night out on the town!
Saturday, 7 PM – MUSIC TO YOUR EARS
The House Pasture and Joe Jimmy’s are rocking places to grab a before-bedtime dinner and drink to close out an adventurous day. Listen to some local live music for a real taste of Texas Hill Country. For The House Pasture, be sure to book your tickets in advance and check out their calendar to plan your trip around the talent and book tickets in advance. Joe Jimmy’s lineup can be found here. Get home safe and make sure you have a designated driver if anyone is drinking.
Sunday, 8 AM – COFFEE AND HIKE
Pack up your to-go mugs with coffee and get out for one more journey before checkout. Garner State Park sits just 10 minutes north of our cabins and is home to “Old Baldy,” one of the favorite hills to climb in the area. Peaking about 1800 feet high, this “hill” provides epic views in every direction once you hit the top. Admire the views, then head back to the cabins to check out and book your next vacation with Hunter’s Ridge cabins.
